Collaboration! If you it here, please it there [link]
A few days ago, I received a note from He asked if I would be interested in a collaboration. It seems he had a poem he felt I could visualize. Since I had done a 'mini-collab' with over a year ago [link] , and I have always admired Brendan's poetry, I said, "Sure. Show me the poem."
I read the poem [link] and I loved it, but it troubled me, somehow. I kept thinking about 'Why' it bothered me as I considered how to visualize it and looked for stock. My ideas kept drifting about with no clear direction. My piece "Joint Discovery" is the result of one of those wanderings. Looking at it felt familiar, like I had been there many times as a child. In fact, I was that child.
Lightning flashed, bells rang, trumpets sounded, and Angels stirred. I WAS THAT CHILD!!! THAT is what was haunting me about the poem: I WAS THAT CHILD!!!
Everything 'clicked' into place. This poem is a very apt description of my childhood. I always saw things a bit differently than others. I always imagined much deeper "what if?" musings than other kids. They never thought I was 'quite right' because they did not think 'important' the things I found fascinating. Ridiculed, sometimes bullied, and frequently laughed at and scorned. I was that child.
So, this piece came to be as you see it: A child, fascinated by thoughts and concepts far beyond the usual and often abstract and surreal, yet with Earth-shattering possibilities.
The poem, which is posted here [link] , and the visual art, are simply entitled "Gift". We offer them up for your approval. <if you fave this, please go fave the poem>
