Awaiting Reunion by colt51 Awaiting Reunion by colt51
A few days ago, Olivia :iconwildwinyan: lost her beloved Logan. [link]

Some folks may not understand how that feels, but I do. It is like having one of your children die. It is like loosing your closest and best friend. It is like loosing one of the biggest parts of your own heart.

This is dedicated to Logan and to Olivia. I hope it helps to ease some of that pain and loss.

The Background [link] and the actual picture of Logan [link] are from her stock account [link]
I used that sky to create two additional texture layers, too.

The Path is from [link] by ~BrunhildIcelandQueen

The Gates [link] by *Shoofly-Stock

Two layers of texture created from [link] by ~dissendiun

Super-Novas effects created using one of the filters in GIMP

I oilified each layer (all 13) individually for a better "Oil Painting" look, then I merged and flattened the image.

The original is 2000 x 1326, however, I will not be enabling downloads. I am going to send the original file to Olivia, just for herself and her family. It is not for others to have, so no downloads from here.

GIMP, Intuos3.

Colt, I am lost in the sheer beauty in this picture. I know that this will bring Olivia much comfort when she is sad.

You are a blessing to all us here at DA. You are a very kind and generous man.

Lovely concept, Colt. Pets are family members too, and I believe that they will also be among the ones who greet us in the afterlife :)

I am sorry to hear about your baby. At 13, some things are to be expected, though that does not make it any easier. I will be keeping her in my heart, too.

A lovely and heartfelt piece. This is about the 6th time I've read about someone losing a pet in the last month here on dA. It's heart wrenching and I feel so badly for the owners. It's difficult to experience such sadness. My thoughts go out to your friend.

It is a pain that is identical to loosing a human family member. I do not look forward to the time that Lil Bit makes her journey to "The Bridge", but I cannot imagine her surviving for long if I go first. Such is the way of Love, even with our animal friends.

Thank you for stopping by and for your kind words and heart.

Anyone who has "owned" a pet (it is actually the other way around, isn't it) knows the feeling.

Thanks, Steve.

Greetings my friend,

This is a wonderful image and you are most kind to have shared it in such a thoughtful manner. I too know the deep pain and loss from losing such angelic souls that we commonly call "Pets."

Warmest regards,
Michael C. Turner

God bless them both. I was thirteen when I had to have my lifelong friend put down. It still hurts and it never stops, so I think this is a beautiful, poignant tribute you've given your friend. Great work.

I have lost many in my 57 years. It does hurt forever, too.

The worst was my Sentry Dog I had at my duty station. I had to hold him while they gave him the shot. Why was he put down? Because he was 7 years old, and no other reason. That was and is the Army's policy. I felt like Judas for months afterward. :(

I am glad this one touches you, too.

D\;; b...what a horrible policy! I can't believe they'd do such a thing; that's worse than what they do to the dogs at the tracks. They at least let them live longer. poor thing, I'm so sorry for your loss. I felt the same way when Duchess died.
 bless.
